Lesson 1 Assignment: Exploring the Web

I. Research Log Entry (due Monday, October 1, 2007)

Go to your blog and create an entry. This entry should answer the following questions:

1. What was discussed today in class that you knew already?

2. What was discussed today in class that was new to you?

3. If you were given an assignment to do research and you chose the web as one strategy for your search, what three important elements do you need to consider?

4. What other ideas and thoughts do you have about exploring the web?

II. Research Log Entry (due Thursday, October 4, 2007)

As you go through your classes this week, think of a question to search on the web. Create a second Resource Log Entry that answers the following questions:

1. What question did you try to answer?

2. What web search engine or engines did you use?

3. What search terms did you use to ask your question?

4. What was your evaluation of your results?

5. What other search strategies could you try?

6. What other questions came into your mind to continue your exploration?
