Academic Integrity; Exploring Databases

 

I. Research Log Entry (due Monday, February 11, 2007)

Go to your blog and create an entry. This entry should answer the following questions:

1. What was discussed today in class?

2. What points were particularly important to you and why?

3. When engaging in the search process, what techniques might you use to ensure that you can continue your exploration without running into a dead end?

II. Research Log Entry (due Thursday, February 14, 2007)

Think of a topic related to your cluster.  As you will work with this topic over the next few weeks, be sure it's something that interests you.  You may develop a new topic or formulate a topic from the questions you've considered since the beginning of this class.  You have your research logs to consult.  Make sure that you have multiple concepts embedded in your topic.

1. Write a brief topic sentence and statement of exploration for your topic. 

2. Formulate appropriate search terms that you might use to being your research process.

3. Examine the various library databases available to you through this library and list the possible databases you might use to begin your search process.

BRING A COPY OF THESE MATERIALS TO CLASS IN PRINT FORM NEXT WEEK IN ADDITION TO POSTING THEM ON YOUR BLOG.  YOU WILL BE WORKING FURTHER ON THEM IN A GROUP EXERCISE NEXT WEEK.
